Dakota

Dakota is a stocky Fox Trotter gelding with a playful and silly personality. He loves to do tricks, and will do just about anything for a treat.

Onyx is Fox Trotter gelding; he gives the best hugs and is a smooth ride.

Max

Max is a Belgian cross gelding. Standing at 16 hh tall and weighing 1650 lbs, he is a giant golden retriever and loves cookies and scratches.

Lexi is an elegant Arabian mare who prances with every step, loves kids, and will snuggle easily.

Elisabeth (Lizzy)

I’m just a girl who loves horses and loves people, I have had many adventures in the past 18+ years working with horses, I’ve dabbled in just about everything. Some of my favorites have been my time at Bridle up Hope helping youth who are at risk to ride horses and learn life skills along the way. I’ve also enjoyed my time at farm country driving draft horse wagons. I love just about anything you can do with a horse: jumping, pushing cows, reining, racing… but my most favorite place to be on a horse is in the mountains. I love a peaceful environment where you can be connected to mother nature’s greatest treasures. So enough about me, let’s get to know you and take you for a ride!

I’ve always been an animal lover and have had dogs my entire life, but never had the lifestyle of being around horses besides a few lessons when I was young. Any chance I had to be near them I would take, but it wasn’t until I was an adult that I was able to really make the choice to learn and absorb as much as I possibly could. I began to volunteer at a horse sanctuary while living in Houston, Texas and from my experience there, I knew I wanted to make it a priority! I love meeting and chatting with new people from all different walks of life, but also appreciate when someone is wanting to take some time for themselves in nature. I really love a sunset and I will never be upset if you want to go on a sunset ride!

Just a girl with a massive love for horses! I was born here in Salt Lake City but I grew up in Colorado so I claim that as home! In my family my nickname is horse girl and I own it because it’s true, I definitely love them! Riding throughout the years has brought me so much joy and I love to see other people have that same joy! One of my favorite times with horses was when I worked at a therapeutic center with horses. It was amazing to see the effect riding had on those people, and the changes that came about in their lives because of them. Outside of horse back riding, I’m with my dog and I LOVE being in the mountains. So horse back riding in the mountains, yah it doesn’t get much better than that for me! I’m so exited to meet and ride with you!

FAQs

Is there a weight limit for riders?

Our horses range in size and ability to carry; we are able to accept riders with a maximum body weight of 140 lbs to 275 lbs, depending on the horse.

A horse’s maximum load they can carry is up to 20% of their body weight. This weight number includes their rider fully clothed as well as their saddle and other items on them. Some veterinary journals claim that anything over 15% puts the horse health at risk, so knowing this, we are cautious with the upper limits of their carrying capacity.

Are there limitations on who can ride?

We can take able-bodied individuals who are prepared to maneuver, bend, stretch, lift, and engage in other physically demanding activities.

Anyone who is pregnant, recently had surgery, or has spinal problems should not ride.

For a rider to be on their own horse, they need to be 10 years old. We can allow children under 10 years to ride double with a saddle attachment, and they must be at least 4 years old. Unless you are an experienced, confident rider, I’ll have them ride with me. Children riding double is $30 per child. If you have an experienced child rider under 10 and would like to discuss options, let me know.

What do I need to bring with me?

You may want to bring boots, gloves, sunscreen, and a helmet or hat.

Children under 16 years old need to wear a helmet. I do provide helmets, but you can bring your own as well to ensure proper fit.

How many people can I book for a ride?

Currently, we’re able to take 2 riders (plus a child riding double).

Do you have other locations available?

Other locations may be added in the future. Please send me a request if you’d like to try out another location!

We stand out from other outfitters because we allow you to fully experience what a horse can offer rather than a nose-to-tail “half dead” ride, you can experience either a slow and steady ride or try some trotting, and if you ride with me enough times to get practiced, you may get to try loping—basically feels like flying and you can’t help but smile!
